Phos Connection Dinners -- Contact Shawn Ann W right away ....

From: "Shawn Ann Wendling" <shawnann@ph-church.org>
Date: June 20, 2010 2:05:11 PM EDT
To: "Meredith Lewis" <meredith@ph-church.org>
Subject: Phos Connection Dinners

I'd like to remind everyone to sign up for connection dinners! It's time to step out of your comfort zones of LXG's and meet some new people! You will be connected with two other families who are NOT in your LXG to meet with ONLY 3 times this summer for dinner, hopefully someone new! Each will host a dinner and the host will provide the main course while the other families bring whatever else is needed. We are not a big church so in order for this to be a success we need YOU to sign up! Yes YOU! We want to meet YOU! One other thing we ask you to do is when you are hosting your dinner, invite someone to your dinner, a neighbor, a guest of our church, someone you just met. This is a great opportunity to introduce Phos to someone in a comfortable setting. It's just dinner.

The information that I need, Your name, your spouses names, your children's name if they are attending, ages of all, phone, email, address, YOUR LXG! Email this information to me at shawnann@ph-church.org  or fill out the Registration Card by next Sunday and give it to me (Shawn Ann Wendling) or Ashley Dehner. Please email me if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Shawn Ann Wendling

Proof of God Video

If you're one who likes to think and read ahead before worship here's a link to a video that you'll find interesting. http://www.allaboutcreation.org/proof-of-god-video.htm

Check out other videos on that page and head over to biblegateway.com and read Genesis One in two or three different translations to really let it sink into your heart.

Ask yourself, 'So what?' and then I'd love to hear what answers you come up with.

Prayer Update from Joni Boon for David's dad, Bill Boon

Jeff - I hate to add one more thing to the list, but please ask that everyone continue to pray for David's Dad, Bill Boon.  He is still in the hospital in Missouri (1 month / 3 days).  On top of everything else, he fell and fractured his back and he is also having issues with fluid on his lungs.  He is not eating and continues to be in a lot of pain.  We are concerned that he is not progressing and in fact, his condition seems to be worse at the moment.  Please keep him in your prayers.

How to help Vicki and Scott's family in the time of Scott's Death ....

Phos Family and friends,

I wanted to pass along some sudden and heart rending news to you.  This morning Gregory Scott Heavrin, husband of Vicki Bironas, died suddenly.   He was out painting a new 'chicken coop' (it's really a small super nice play house with 'Pella' windows) preparing to house the 25 chicks that he and Vicki are raising in hopes of having lots of organic eggs in the near future. We're not sure what happened yet but he had just spoken to a good friend who was in for the weekend just 30 minutes before Vicki found him.

Arrangements are not yet fully determined, but we'll have a better idea and an update out around 3 PM tomorrow.

For now, pray and watch and get involved in one of the following ways:
1.  Email Theresa Stewart if you'd like to help with food at the Visitation at the Funeral Home in LaGrange (time TBD)
2.  Email Theresa Stewart if you'd like to help with food for the family and close friends following the funeral (time TBD)
3.  Login to the CareCalendar with the following information if you'd like to sign up to take a meal to the family in the weeks ahead
  • Care calendar login info.
  • ID 42545
  • Code 6832
  • 4.  Email Meredith Lewis if you'd be interested in helping finish construction of the 'chicken house'.  (time/date TBD)  We'll keep your info on file and when a plan shapes up we'll let you know when and how you can jump in and help.

God has entrusted us with the care of yet another family in the middle of crisis.  He trusts us an awful lot!  So, once again, let's dig deep, draw close to God and pray and care each other through.

Be sure to keep up with the Phos News Blog this week as there will be a lot of news coming out as things develop.

    Hi Jeff,

Just spoke to Anne.  Here is the update on Carla.

She is at Tri-County – has left the ER and has been
admitted.  She cannot talk, but she is thinking clearly and can write a
little bit, but her handwriting is shaky.  She is scheduled to have an MRI
tomorrow.  She had a CAT scan today, but it did not show anything since
the stroke had subsided.  They will also do a swallow test on her to see
if she can eat.  Anne is planning on going to see her tomorrow morning and
will give me a call with an update.

Let’s keep prayers headed her way.

    Thanks!

Give the Jagger's kiddos a boost so Mary Ruth can continue to help Cheryl and Austin in this time of transition....

Phos Church ROCKS!  Nobody loves better than you do.

Mary Ruth Jaggers has been hosting Cheryl and Austin Freerman at her home since Tyler's death back on May 31.  She is now helping Cheryl transition back to her home.  It would be soooooo cool if David and Hannah could get out and have a play date or two while Mary Ruth continues to help Cheryl transition.  Would you consider having them over to your home to play with your kiddos?

Mary Ruth does however want 2 play dates next week for Hannah and David.  They need to be after 12:30 pm and I have placed those on the Care Calendar on 6/15 and 6/17.

Here's the login info for the CareCalendar.  Thanks,  Jeff

    Angel Food Ministries

    From: Carla Lochner

Angel Food Ministries sells food at greatly discounted prices to anyone who registers to buy.  There are no forms, no income checks, etc.  The "menu" changes monthly and they have many options to choose from.  Most distribution locations are at a church, but Angel Food is a separate entity.  Currently, there are seven locations within 20 miles of LaGrange.  Boxes can be ordered on-line.  The person who orders can do whatever they'd like with the food, so if someone in PH knows of a needy person/family, they can order and give it to the person(s) in need.  The boxes are ordered monthly (check the website for the location order/pickup details), and there is no commitment to reorder.

I got my first box last month; "feeds a family of four for a week" for $30.  The food is excellent..  My friend, who picked it up for me, was so impressed that she ordered one of the other selections this month.

It gives those of us with low incomes a chance to buy good food and still have money left for other essentials.  It also allows those who can, and want to, help someone to do so at low cost for a lot of food.

If anyone wants to try this for themselves or to help a needy family, the website is www.angelfoodministries.com.  (There is an angelfoodministry.org, but it is not the correct website.)  Also, the website does not tell all you need to know to pickup the food, so if anyone is interested in this they can email me at carla.lochner@insightbb.com (preferred method) or call me at 502-475-9539 (leave a message, I don't answer phone numbers I don't recognize).

    Thanks,

    Carla  >^^<

    Meals for Jaggers

Mary Ruth and Len have opened their hearts and home to Cheryl and Austin in the loss of a son and brother in Tyler Frerman this past Sunday evening.  They have loved so well and so completely that it would be great if we as the body at Phos gave them a boost as well.   So, to that end, Kris Loftis has set up a two week, every other evening meal rotation to help them move through this time as well.  In helping them we are helping Cheryl and Austin as well.  Here's the info you'll need to logon to the care calendar and support these who have supported so well.
