What's Your Plan for Dealing With the Rising Cost of Nearly Everthing?

Check out this headline from USA Today about the rising cost of water....

Seems like the price of nearly everything is going up wouldn't you agree?

Wise people plan ahead. I'm studying a fantastic new book, Great by Choice, written by Jim Collins that suggests that truly successful people over-plan for potential 'bad luck.' Reminds me of Joseph preparing Egypt for a drought in the Old Testament. Having a 'Plan B' is just common sense these days. If you need to build one let's talk.

Day One ENGAGE Success

To all my PHOS COMMUNITY friends. Hope you have decided to take the ENGAGE Journey with us. Great start yesterday but there's plenty of time to get in the game. I had a great time this morning ENGAGE-ing day one of the S.O.A.P. [Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer] Guidebook and my Bible. This is an excerpt from my prayer this morning, "Lord, help me to go even when I don't know all that I'd like to know."

ENJOY your time in Gods Word and strengthening your friendships around PCC. Jeff Fuson

I Think God Hates Me!!! A note to my friends who are going through tough times ….

"I think that God hates me."

That's was the gist of my conversation with my good friend who just lost her job, had kids making really bad choices, was enduring financial stress and more.  Her marriage was tanking and the stress was high.  And, she was giving up on God -- because she thought that God has given up on her.  He was silent and non-active in response to her prayers.  There was no magical check in the mailbox to save the house and no magic spell to cast upon her out-of-control kids and no love potion could return her marriage to it's former glory.  She was stuck and felt alone and forgotten and she would forget God back.

If you've ever felt this way or maybe even feel that way today then you're not alone.  It happened in the Bible to Job, Jesus and John the Baptist.  And, if you live on the third rock from the sun long enough it's probably gonna happen to you, too.

So, what's up with this 'God' who can be AWOL when we need Him the most?

Our answer to that question....the 'theology' that we come up with in the Emergency Room will drive our relationship with God forward or drive it into the ground.  If we get our theology twisted up and headed the wrong direction then we will do life without God as much as possible to show Him who's really in charge of me.  If we get our 'theology' right then we can weather the tough times AND draw strength from God AND move forward into a joy-filled walk with God in the midst of real life and that walk with God will bring us great joy amidst real life.  And, that's what we need most of all isn't it?

Check out this article, not because it's an easy read, but because it's good theology and when you get your theology right then you will enjoy God and life even when times are tough.

Please let me know what you think about what you read here:  http://www.directionjournal.org/article/?910

BTW, you really need to be in worship with us this Sunday September 16th because I'll be diving deep into these ideas and giving you hope for the days ahead.  Check out PhosChurch.com for directions to 4200 Centerfield Drive in Crestwood, Kentucky.  Worship is at 9:30 and 11 AM and is casual dress.

Roadside BBQ Hero! Way to go Chops!

Just met 'Chops' at Exit 14 across from Starbucks in Crestwood. I admire his courage and work ethic to drag his BBQ Grill and roadside sign out in 90 degree heat and see who may wanna have BBQ for lunch! I did a U-turn on 329 and headed back mostly because I love the Free Enterprise System and I wanted to support this guy!
One of the greatest things about America is that we all have the right to start a business of our own. We still have the freedom to enterprise! I move it 'Chops' has that kind of spirit. He's not sitting back waiting for a subsidyHandout or job -- he is making something happen. He's not expecting that someone else has to take the risk to start a company so that he can have a job. The freedom to start a business is a great freedom that we still have and he saved Me from another drive through window!
So, stop and see 'Chops' and tell him I sent you because I believe that more of us should exercise the freedom to create lives that are inspired and free
and that honor the gifts, talents, abilities and dreams that God has placed in us.

If you don't like your job or don't have a job but want to work how 'bout starting your own business of some sort?
Yes it may be risky and it might not work. BUT, it might!!
Just tired of seeing so many high caliber people feel so stuck and dead ended in jobs where they are underemployed or underpaid or both. Or to see friends go for months with no income because they simply lack the courage to attempt something that they've alleys dreamed of.
If you're stuck I'd be willing to coach you through, but you will have to supply the guts to be like 'Chops'! I have a few great book recommendations that will help. Just give me a shout.
By the way lunch was great! Wasn't cheaper than McDonalds-- as a matter of fact it cost more BUT it was much better! Cheaper isn't always better... Sorry Wal-Mart!
