The UNREASONABLE GOD!

God is UNREASONABLE.

He asks us to step into the unknown and do the impossible so that he has a powerfully clear high platform to show the world that He's still God -- still in charge, still the ONE, still Jehovah, still the Manna-Maker, Soul-Provider (a long time before the song), and our First & Last Greatest Hope for life lived properly.

I'm digging into 'The Sermon Maker' by Calvin Miller and uncovered a quote that you've got to read and let sink in. On page 26 Miller posts this quote from 'The Spire' by William Golding: "Even in the old days He never asked men to do what was reasonable. Men can do that for themselves. They can buy and sell, heal and govern. But then out of some deep place comes the command to do what makes no sense at all--to build a ship on dry land; to sit among the dunghills; to marry a whore; to set their son on the altar of sacrifice. Then, if men have faith, a new thing comes."

This is my story in the call to launch Phos Hilaron Church. Totally unreasonable and impossible unless God Himself meets our need and gives us success--and to this point He has!

I'm so excited!

You'd have to be out on the edge with God to come to a place where you'd be fired up that there's no way you can make payroll for your team next week if God doesn't deliver us in the morning! You'd have to be a church planter or on the leadership team with a close in view with an addiction to seeing what God can do and becoming addicted to the thrill of the edge where great things happen. That's where I am this evening....juiced & jazzed that there's no way out of our 'lack' unless He shows up with His abundance! We'll see what God's gonna do.

Every single time so far in the journey of launching Phos Hilaron Church God has showed up and provided just what we've needed from a ramp for the trailer, to a second trailer for children's gear, to just enough money to get us through our first summer to borrowed projectors. 'Manna' every single time from the hand of God!

How cool is that?!

If you're part of an average run of the mill church then you have no idea what I'm talking about. You owe it to yourself to join God at the edge of His Mission and get out 'THERE' on the front lines of adventure where God does the miraculous....

What a rush!

Innovation that might change everything...

It's been my pleasure and passion to work with a team of ultra-creative Christ followers in the past months who've been willing to ask a lot of tough questions about what 'church' might be and what it was intended to be from the beginning. In that searching and wrestling we've been willing to 'de-construct' a lot of what is and go on a quest to 'Re-Imagine' what 'Church' might be. It's tough work and some people understand it and appreciate it and even want to jump in and play, too. And, some, it really hacks off and they feel offended that we'd ask tough questions and imagineer new solutions. This is always the case with innovation -- it polarizes people.

So, I always watch out for teams who are innovators and like to watch their progress and I also like to try to get into their 'brains' to see what's going on in there because it will help me think better and more clearly about what God has commissioned the team at Phos to do. I found one of those stories this morning that I wanted to give you access to.

The Google Team has been working behind the scenes for a couple of years to introduce a new web browser that they've dubbed 'Chrome' that will begin where the web IS NOW versus where the web was when browsers first launched several years back. They have the advantage of hindsight mixed with foresight as they launch Chrome and it may bring some really cool innovations to all web browsers in the very near future as Chrome is built 'open source' so that others can learn from it and even use elements of it in their own browsers if they choose.

So, I don't know if I'll ever use 'Chrome' as a tool or not, but my hat's off to a team that built something fresh that will improve the web experience at least a bit for all of us. Thanks.

Enjoy this 'Comic Book' behind the scenes look at 'Chrome'

Have a great day,
